Easy way to transform a landscape into a spooky scene.

1. Open your image. I’ve chosen A dried tree, because the effect will be great.

2. Desaturate the image (hit Ctrl+Shift+U or go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate)

3. Now open the Curves box (Ctrl+M or Image > Adjustments > Curves) and move the curve so it will look something like this. Of course, depending on your image, you can use other curves settings. Just play with the values until you are satisfied with your result.

4. Here’s how it should look by now.

5. Now select the Eliptical Marquee Tool, make a selection and fill it with white (when making the selection, hold the Shift key, this will make a perfect circular selection).

5. Apply an Outer Glow effect, with these settings.

6. Starting to look nice.

6. Ok, you’re almost done. Add some details to increase the “spooky effect” I’ve placed some bat shapes of different size.

7. And the last step. Create a new layer, make sure its on top and fill it with #3366ff. This will fill the screen with blue. Don’t worry…set the Opacity of the layer to 15%.

8. And you’re done. Easy, huh? Enjoy and give me some feedback.
